Publications:

Since 1997, I have been a contributor to the Saskatchewan weekly newspaper, The La Ronge Northerner, writing on a wide variety of topics, including business, industry, arts, education, sports, social issues and human interest.

In 2003, I initiated a regular feature, "Community Showcase", in Seaway News which I wrote until I moved in the summer of 2004.

My writing has also appeared in a number of other publications such as Prairies North Magazine, The Saskatoon Star-Phoenix, The Prince Albert Herald, Windspeaker, Saskatchewan Sage, The PAGC Tribune, The Prairie Messenger, Meest, Artemesia, an on-line arts magazine, and Below the Belt, Canada's boxing magazine.

Personal essays have been published in Reader's Digest, The Globe and Mail, The Cornwall Standard Freeholder, The La Ronge Northerner, The Seaway News, Visnyk, Appleseed Quarterly, Nasha Doroha, Long Term Care Magazine and Family Tree Magazine.

Awards:

My front page story on eco-tourism, Walk in softly, tread lightly, was part of a series in The Northerner that earned an Honourable Mention in the Best Tourism Coverage category of Saskatchewan’s Better Newspapers Competition for 1998.

The Mystery of Michalina was short-listed for the 2002 Larry Turner Award for non-fiction.

Readings:

I was selected for the Northern Author Tour by the Pahkisimon Nuye?áh Library System during Saskatchewan Library Week, October 1999, including readings at Pinehouse, Île à la Crosse, Beauval, Far Reserve and La Ronge.

I gave author readings in La Ronge at "Northwords" (1999-2001) and Pre-Cam School (2001), Chief Moses Ratt School in Nemieben Lake in 2000, and Gordon Denny Community School in Air Ronge in 2005. These were sponsored by the Saskatchewan Writers Guild.

Professional Development:

I am a member and Secretary-Treasurer of the La Ronge Wild Rice Writers Group. As a member of the group, I have been privileged to attend workshops conducted by: Louise Halfe, Brenda Zeman, John Livingstone Clark, Candace Savage, Bill Klebeck, Brenda Baker, Gail Bowen, David Carpenter and Scott Miller. At the Festival of Words held in Moose Jaw, I attended workshops by Lynda Monahan and Melanie Boyd.
